Man United key man demands £3m per year pay rise

“Jose Mourinho, Jose Mourinho,” sing the Manchester United fans in their booth at the Transfer Tavern.

They are hoping that he is the man to lead them to glory this season and return the Premier League title to Old Trafford for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson departed.

According to a report by The Mirror, Jose Mourinho is demanding a pay rise if he is to remain at Man United.

Manchester United appointed the Portuguese boss at the start of last season and he immediately delivered success in cup competitions.

Last term, Mourinho guided the Red Devils to triumphs in the Community Shield, the League Cup and the Europa League.

This season, he is eyeing success in the league but Man United currently sit five points behind high flying city rivals Manchester City.

But now he wants to be handed £3m per year more than he currently earns in order to remain with the Premier League giants.

Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly set to open talks with Man United’s executive vice chairman Ed Woodward in the new year as he tries to negotiate a pay hike for his client.

With extra revenue coming in since their return to the Champions League, Mourinho is keen to gain a pay rise.
