Man United legend rules out caretaker role, could walk this summer

Giggs 4Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been stunned into silence as they flick through the papers on the sofas, as they’ve read a club legend is preparing to end his long-term association with the Red Devils.

The Daily Mirror states that Ryan Giggs wants the Manchester United job on a permanent basis and is prepared to walk if he doesn’t get his wish, whilst he’s also made it clear he’s not prepared to take charge of the club as a caretaker boss.

Manchester United’s original plan was that Giggs, currently assistant to Louis Van Gaal, would replace the Dutchman when his deal expires in 2017. However, poor displays from the current boss have led to a rethink of ideas.

Giggs feels it’s now or never at Manchester United and with Jose Mourinho constantly linked to the job at Old Trafford, it seems the Welshman is not being considered as a contender to take charge of the club.

There’s some scepticism to whether Mourinho is the ideal man for United in the bar but many believe that Giggs also isn’t the right candidate, so our landlord believes he will inevitably leave to begin his managerial career elsewhere.

United fans, how big a blow will losing Giggs be? Let us know in the comments below!
