Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite believe what they’re hearing today and they’re having to put up with being mocked by their Manchester United counterparts, after a sensational story emerged.
Spanish outlet Fichajes claim Manchester United could scupper Atletico Madrid’s transfer plans this summer, by outbidding Diego Simeone’s side for the services of Chelsea forward Diego Costa.
Costa was a crucial part in the Chelsea side that landed the Premier League title last season but, despite increasing his performances in the second-half of the season, his displays this term have been far less impressive.
His controversial behaviour has also caused him problems, with the latest incident being a red-card against Everton in the FA Cup last weekend, and Costa has found sections of the British media on his back- similar to what Luis Suarez experienced previously.
As such, the player is said to be unhappy in England and it makes it difficult to imagine the Spaniard moving to United. However, the Red Devils have the finances to quell the player’s issues.
Costa, of course, was formerly of Atletico and is a keen follower of the Spanish side, so he could make his homecoming nevertheless.
United fans, would you take Diego Costa? Let us know in the comments below!
