Man United looking to tie up defender deal

It has has been a mixed 18 months or so for young Man Utd man Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

First breaking into the Man Utd squad under Louis van Gaal, Fosu-Mensah has seen his opportunities decrease somewhat under Jose Mourinho; but he has retained his spot in the first team squad thus far.

Whilst he is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, having had to settle for a second choice role behind Antonio Valencia until this point, the youngster has made 2 first team appearances so far in the Europa League and League Cup respectively.

Resultantly, it is widely thought within the Tavern that the Man Utd brass have high expectations for the young defender.

Now, the faith that Man Utd have in him has been cemented, with reports of a new deal on the table.

According to ESPN, as per sources close to the club, a new four-year deal for Fosu-Mensah is set to be finalised after the international break – with his current deal set to expire next summer.

This has come as a relief to the Man Utd fans in the Tavern, whom believe he could be the perfect long-term solution to the Red Devils right back woes.

Despite being just 18-years-old, Fosu-Mensah has made an impressive eight Premier League appearances for Man United – and now finds himself as an established member of United’s first team squad.

Our landlord is touting him for a starting spot sooner, rather than later.
