Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are reaching for our pub grub menu in the hunt for something tasty, after having their appetites increased with links to a winger with the most Italian name we have ever heard.
Gazzetta Dello Sport state Manchester United have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Fiorentina’s highly-rated winger Federico Bernardeschi, who’s enjoying a quality season in Italian football.
The 22-year-old caught the eye with a goal against Tottenham Hotspur last week and he’s said to be a top-target of incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who’s widely reported to be taking the reigns at Stamford Bridge.
However, it seems Chelsea are second in-line for the player’s signature as United are said to have lodged a bid of £22m for the young Italian.
La Viola will not want to lose their prized asset this summer, and could demand upwards of £30m, but our landlord believes the lure of two Premier League clubs will lead the player to seek an exit from Florence this summer.
