Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite believe what they’ve read this morning and they’ve stormed out into the smoking area in a fit of rage.
The Sun suggest Manchester United could be set to miss out on the signature of prime managerial target Jose Mourinho, who has emerged as a surprise candidate to replace Roy Hodgson in the England set-up.
Former Chelsea manager Mourinho has been the favourite for the Manchester United job ever since his dismissal in west London, although the delay in an official offer being made to the two-time Champions League winner has left him extremely frustrated.
As such, United face missing out on his signature as England eye a shock appointment- preferring Mourinho to current assistant Gary Neville, who’s endured a shaky start to life as a manager with Spanish side Valencia.
Whilst Neville is finally starting to find his feet on the continent, it appears he’s not quite ready for such a high-profile job. However, our manager has similar reservations with Mourinho and believes he’d be a disastrous appointment from the FA.
