Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has agreed a deal to sign both Kai Havertz and Thomas Muller.
According to a report from the Mirror, Woodward has given the go-ahead for United to sign the German pair in a move which would cost the club a whopping £125m.
Muller has been one of the standout performers for club and country for a number of seasons now and while he is 30-years-old, he is a player who United have held a long-term interest in.
Havertz, on the other hand, is a player who has emerged in the last few seasons as one of the new stars of German football. Still at Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz is the key player for the former Champions League finalists and has already scored twice this season to build on the impressive 17 he hit last term.
At just 20, Havertz fits in with the current transfer structure at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the aim being to bring in young, hungry players who have a long-term future with the club and can maintain or increase in value.
Muller, on the other hand, would bring in goals and experience across a range of attacking positions. A key man in the German World Cup winning squad of 2014, he has proven time and again his ability and has scored over 100 times for Bayern (TransferMarkt).
It’s about time United started to look at names who are going to get the fans excited and these two are certainly in that bracket.
Havertz is an outstanding young talent who has been courted throughout Europe, while most fans in football know exactly what Muller is all about.
The pair should instantly improve the United first XI, something which has to be done given the poor performance of the team so far this season.
