Our resident Manchester United fans who returned to the Transfer Tavern in a very lively manner after their 1-0 win over rivals Liverpool were intrigued by an article in The Daily Mail which claims that youngster Andreas Pereira could be loaned out this month.
The Mail state that the 20-year old has been informed that he will be allowed to go out on loan ‘to the right club’, with surprise title hopefuls Leicester City said to be interested.
The attacking midfielder is apparently frustrated by his lack of playing time, having only managed to start for United in 2 Capital One Cup fixtures this term, scoring in 1 of them, whilst he was an unused substitute against Liverpool.
The Brazil under-20 international, who is also capable of playing on either flank, recently admitted:
“Of course you want to play every game, but I have been on the bench. We will see what happens.”
And while it is believed that United boss Louis van Gaal will not object to Pereira going out on a short-term loan if he is able to receive regular first-team minutes, the Red Devils are likely to reject any offer from Leicester with Claudio Ranieri’s side now seemingly genuine contenders for a Champions League place.
Van Gaal has been impressed with the Belgium-born attacker’s attitude during his rare first-team appearances, however, claiming that ‘he has played with freedom and coped with the pressure’.
Meanwhile, Leicester are looking to bolster their squad further in an attempted to push on from their impressive first half of the season, having already signed winger Demarai Gray from Birmingham City for £3.7 million.
