Man United on alert to grab World Cup winning midfielder

toni kroosManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern dreaming of ideal recruits in January almost fell of their bar stools after they heard that there is genuine legs in a sensational report.

The Daily Mirror claims that Manchester United are on alert to snatch Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, with it indicated that the German World Cup winner is unhappy in the Spanish capital.

Formerly of Bayern Munich, the 25-year-old has a wealth of honours to his name that include three Bundesliga titles, three German Cups, a Champions League crown and two UEFA Super Cup medals.

Only arriving at Real Madrid after the 2014 World Cup, Kroos is reportedly unhappy after becoming the latest Los Blancos star to fall-out with controversial manager Rafael Benitez.

If he arrived at Old Trafford he would have to compete with Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and former team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger but Kroos is widely-regarded as one of the best central midfielders in the world.

That means United would be unlikely to pass up this opportunity, should it arise, and our punters at the bar are now bellowing that Kroos would be the replacement for Paul Scholes that United have been desperate for.

United fans, should you go all out to land Toni Kroos? Let us know in the comments below!
