There is plenty of stories floating around the bar to keep them distracted, with one in particular raising the hairs on the back of our supporters necks as The Daily Star suggests United are looking to sign Raphael Varane and Joao Mario this summer.
The 23-year-old duo, who ply their trade for Real Madrid and Sporting Lisbon respectively, are highly-rated on the continent and United want to bring them amidst a major squad rebuild this summer.
United are actively looking for a quality central defender, which Varane fits perfectly, and Mario equally fits the bill ideally un the Red Devils’ hunt for a creative midfielder to ease their attacking woes this season.
Of the two, Varane would be the most difficult to secure but reports suggest talks have begun regarding a £30m transfer.
