Man United plot incredible £75m deal for next summer

bale3Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have got a slap on the wrist from our landlord after they danced on the tables in excitement following the latest developments in a fierce transfer chase.

The Mirror state last night’s sacking of Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has encouraged Manchester United to plot an ambitious summer swoop for Gareth Bale, to the tune of £75m.

The Red Devils have held interest in Bale since his days at Tottenham Hotspur and have kept tabs on the Welshman during his time in the Spanish capital, where he has failed to win over the majority of the fans and the media.

Zinedine Zidane, the 13th manager of Real Madrid since 2000, does not want to sell Bale but it’s reported that the Welsh international is upset to see Benitez fired just six months after taking the job.

Many see Bale as the long-term replacement for the ageing Cristiano Ronaldo but it remains to be seen as to whether Bale is central to Zidane’s plans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Our landlord still thinks United have a mammoth task ahead of them in their quest to secure this deal but he admits this is as good a time as any.
