Manchester United fans in the Transfer tavern are anticipating a wealth of changes at their club this summer and one of those that takes place could be between the sticks.
Spanish outlet Fichajes state that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Southampton’s England international Fraser Forster, if David De Gea leaves, and want the goalkeeper as part of a double-swoop that would include his Saints team-mate Sadio Mane.
The Red Devils are concerned that Real Madrid’s long-term interest in De Gea will lead to an exit this summer, after a move sensationally fell apart on Deadline Day last year, and the Premier League giants are keen to identify a replacement.
With Forster excelling for Southampton this season, with Ronald Koeman’s side pushing for European football, the England international has seen his services eyed by other clubs and the opportunity to place regular European football will boost his chances of replacing Joe Hart as England’s number one.
Whilst Southampton and Manchester United look set to play in the same European competition next season, United’s chances of returning to the Champions League are very promising- especially when compared with the Saints.
