Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern hoping for some major summer additions have had their after-work drinks interrupted by some staggering reports concerning one of Europe’s greatest strikers.
The Sun says the Manchester United hierarchy are keen to land Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth up to £65m this summer, regardless of what decision they make on Louis Van Gaal’s future.
Griezmann, who is tipped to star for host nation France at this summer’s European Championship, finds himself top of United’s transfer wish-list alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as United eye a move for a world-class striker.
Whilst speculation continues to surround the future of Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal, the interest in Griezmann will remain if the Dutchman is axed, as the favourite for the managerial position, Jose Mourinho, is a big fan of the Atletico forward.
However, persuading the French sensation to part with Champions League football will be a big ask, although our landlord believes Griezmann may pursue a new challenge if Atletico win this season’s competition!
