Man United pushing for major multi-million pound summer deals

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a busy transfer window this summer, with a wealth of business taking place at Old Trafford.

With veteran forwards Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney expected to leave, Jose Mourinho’s side will have a wealth of funds freed up to conduct some huge pieces of business this window and the Portuguese boss is eyeing some big recruits.

The Independent states Mourinho is pushing to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer and Andrea Belotti from Torino, in a double-deal that could be worth as much as £170m.

That astronomical figure comes about due to the duo’s release-clauses, with Torino demanding Belotti’s £84m price-tag is met this summer if he’s to leave, whilst Atletico have adopted a similar stance with Griezmann.

Both players are eyed amongst significant changes to the Manchester United set-up, as the Red Devils look to construct a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title having fallen short of that aim this season.

The exits of Ibrahimovic and Rooney are set to hand United around £500k-a-week for lucrative contracts for an attacking duo who have scored a combined 41 goals between them this term, attracting the eyes of Europe’s elite in the process.

However, United will likely have to secure Champions League football to be able to persuade either star to move to Old Trafford, which intensifies the importance of United’s end to the season as they battle-it-out for a spot in the top-four and eye glory in the Europa League.

Whilst out landlord believes both players who be sensational signings, he’s struggling to see where the pair would fit in as United already boast the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
