Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased with mouthwatering developments this afternoon, which unfortunately have nothing to do with today’s special on the menu.
The Daily Mail suggests Louis Van Gaal is eyeing a lucrative double-swoop to land Porto duo Ruben Neves and Bruno Martins Indi, sending scouts to watch the pair in action for their Portuguese club on Saturday.
Manchester United are currently embroiled in a defensive crisis as they have Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian all out injured- and Van Gaal wants to lesser his problems with the addition of a player he knows very well.
Defender Bruno Martins Indi was a part of Van Gaal’s squad that finished third in the 2014 World Cup, whilst Ruben Neves is a top-target for many European giants after becoming the youngest captain in Champions League history earlier this season.
The double signing would command a vast transfer fee, with Neves’ signature alone worth £29m, and United will have to pay a sizeable fee to land Dutch international Martins Indi.
Our landlord believes the pair could be exactly what United need though, as he’s long identified the need for a strong defensive option and a combative midfielder in the middle of the park.
United fans, would this double signing land you a top-four finish? Let us know in the comments below!
