Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been enjoying the Euro 2016 offerings so far but it’s transfer gossip that’s stolen the headlines today, with an astonishing report being read out at the bar.
Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport claim Manchester United are readying an offer of €100m to bring Marco Verratti to the Premier League from Paris Saint-Germain, in what would become a British record transfer.
The 23-year-old Italian midfielder is highly-rated and it’s stated Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is himself heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, wants his team-mate from Paris to join him at Old Trafford next season.
Naturally, PSG are reluctant to lose the talented midfielder, who is contract until 2020, and see the Italian as a key figure in their side, particularly with a wealth of changes expected in the French capital this summer following some high-profile departures.
Ibrahimovic will of course be the main talking point for PSG’s leaving camp this summer but the likes of Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi may also be on their way out, whilst there continues to be speculation regarding the future of Brazilian defender Marquinhos.
United fans, is Verratti worth this sensational amount? Let us know in the comments below!
