Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left open mouthed at the bar by recent reports regarding their transfer activity this summer, as it’s indicated the club will go all-out in the close season.
The Daily Star sensationally claims Manchester United are ready to hand Jose Mourinho £300m to spend in the transfer market this summer, should he replace Louis Van Gaal as manager of the Old Trafford outfit.
With Manchester City preparing for a new era under Pep Guardiola, United officials believe Mourinho is the only man to challenge the former Barcelona boss and an official announcement concerning Mourinho’s appointment will be made in the coming weeks.
Mourinho will face a major test at United as the club is in need of a major rebuild and there’s plenty of deadwood to offload. However, finances shouldn’t be a problem for the Portuguese boss as he chases incoming transfers.
A number of top names have been linked with Manchester United this summer, including Ballon D’Or finalist Neymar and veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but who comes in may depend on whether United manager to seal a spot in the top-four of the Premier League.
Our landlord is particularly concerned by these reports though, as he feels Mourinho’s record in the transfer record is not strong and that he will waste all this money.
