Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have stormed into the smoking area in a strop this afternoon, after hearing a prime target of theirs could end up at Manchester United.
Don Balon state that Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal is ready to make a move for AC Milan forward Carlos Bacca, who has been heavily linked to Chelsea amid reports the Blues would match his £30m asking price.
29-year-old Bacca only signed for the Italian club in the summer, after helping Sevilla retain their Europa League crown, but the Colombian is tipped to be on the move again this month and a Premier League switch is likely.
It’s a surprise for many to see Bacca potentially on the move as he’s done well for Milan this season, scoring 10 goals, but that does explain his hefty asking price- and with both sides desperate to bolster their attacking lines it seems that figure is not a problem.
Our Chelsea punters were optimistic they would land a deal for Bacca but the emergence of United is a huge concern.
The landlord is struggling to call this one, as Bacca would be eligible for the latter stages of Chelsea’s Champions League campaign but United have a better chance of offering him a spot in the competition next term.
