Manchester United are set to cool their interest in Real Madrid and Wales star, Gareth Bale.
The Welshman has long been rumoured with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu but according to a report from the Mirror, that move won’t be to United, as they are concerned about his injury record in the last few seasons.
The report claims that United have big concerns over whether Bale would represent value for money given the amount of time he has spent on the treatment table in Madrid.
Despite winning the Champions League on three occasions and becoming a star attraction for Real, Bale’s time there has not been without its troubles. Indeed, manager Zinedine Zidane has used Bale sparingly at times and pointed to his lack of fitness as one of the reasons.
However, the report does claim United will instead make a move for Dortmund and England winger, Jadon Sancho. The former Man City youngster is impressing once more in the Bundesliga, while Gareth Southgate has selected him in his starting XI on more than one occasion this year.
The 19-year-old already has three goals in the Bundesliga this season, while his five assists once again prove his a creative force for the German giants.
There’s a big argument to be made here that United would be changing their transfer policy yet again if they go for Bale.
The summer saw them bring in younger players as the club seemingly looked to players who could have a long future with the club. Bale, at 30, does not fit into that mould.
Sancho is the one really for United if they are going to splash the cash. He is only going to get better and the more time he spends with England, the more players such as Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard might be getting in his ear.
