Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are scratching their heads in disbelief after what they’ve been told today, which the Red Devils appearing to rule-out a move for a sensational defender.
Manchester Evening News states United will not make a move for Borussia Dortmund ace Mats Hummels this summer due to the improvement in form of Dutch international Daley Blind.
Hummels, a World Cup winner, looks set to leave Dortmund this summer for a new challenge and it’s increasingly likely that a move will see him join arch-rivals Bayern Munich- although Dortmund would prefer to sell abroad.
United held heavy interest in Hummels two-years ago, when Louis Van Gaal started his reign as boss at Old Trafford, but the club will now renew such interest this summer as they have faith in Blind, who’s featured in all but three of United’s 54 matches this season.
Many fans are questioning this decision in the bar though as they feel Hummels is a class above Blind and passing up the opportunity to seal such a sensational signing is bizarre.
Will United be making a mistake if they don’t swoop for Hummels? Let us know in the comments below!
