Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern almost choked on their pints this afternoon after hearing who their latest January target is reported to be.
Swiss media outlet Blick state experienced Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero has impressed Manchester United this season, with one goal and two assists in 13 games for the Serie A title chasers.
The 30-year-old, who has one international appearance for Spain, has experience in the Premier League due to a stint with West Brom but struggled to make a positive impression in English football.
Valero is a surprise target for United, who are looking for key additions in the New Year, but would provide experience to a young side lacking ideas in the final third.
It’s clear to all in the bar that United need recruits to improve their chances of winning the Premier League title but not a single person in the bar believes Valero would be a good purchase from Louis Van Gaal.
Would Valero be useful for Manchester United? Let us know in the comments below!
