Manchester United fans assembling by the pool tables in the Transfer Tavern and hoping to hear about some major deals for their side have seen their hopes dashed this afternoon, as it seems purchases will not be made.
The Daily Mirror state United have put their major transfer business on hold this month amid scrutiny surrounding manager Louis Van Gaal, who seems increasingly likely to leave his post come the end of the season.
United’s hierarchy therefore don’t want to spend big on players, only to find that their next manager doesn’t want the player’s Van Gaal has signed this month.
With United struggling to find consistency in the league, it’s stated Van Gaal will leave in the summer if he does not deliver Champions League football– which would put United on the market for a new boss for the third time in as many years.
However, whilst January signings are on-hold, United have identified prime targets for the end of the season and are ready to support whoever comes into the club on the market; with fans in the bar hoping for a major overhaul.
Our landlord believes not backing Van Gaal for expensive signings is a good call but urged the board to spend some money this month, as he believes the current squad is not capable of landing a top-four finish.
United fans, is this the right call from your club? Let us know in the comments below!
