Man United set sights on talented Spanish international defender

BartraManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern finally had reason to celebrate after they advanced to the Europa League Round of 16 last night and they certainly partied hard, which has left them fragile this morning.

Some life has been sparked into them though by the latest reports our bar staff told them of, with The Sun stating Manchester United are looking to seal a deal for Spanish international defender Marc Bartra this summer.

The 25-year-old has struggled to force his way into Barcelona’s extremely talented starting XI and United’s need for defensive reinforcements has led to the Red Devils eying a move for the experienced centre-half.

Competing with Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano for minutes with the first-team, it’s not at all surprising that Bartra has struggled to make an impact- but United want to give him his chance in the Premier League and will pay the Catalan side £10m for that privilege.

With six international caps to his name, our landlord feels Bartra would be a solid addition to a leaky United defence that should be plugged in the next transfer window.

United fans, would Bartra bolster your defence? How do you see your back-line looking next year? Let us know in the comments below!
