Man United star in talks for high-profile summer exit

MataManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have shuddered with the thought of losing a key-player, as they discussed a potential exit of a star-man during their visit to the smoking area.

The Daily Mail states that Spanish giants Barcelona are keen to bring the midfielder to the club this summer and, crucially, have held initial talks with the 27-year-old.

Mata is happy at Old Trafford and is eyeing success but the two years since his £37m arrival from Chelsea have been extremely turbulent, with the ill-fated regimes of both David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal’s causing increasing concerns.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is keen to bring Mata to the Nou Camp and ease the burden on an ageing Andres Iniesta, with it stated the Catalan side first considered making a swoop for Mata 18 months ago but pulled the plug as he had just moved from Chelsea.

This year though, with United in real threat of missing out on Champions League football, Mata could be convinced to chase success back in his homeland with arguably the best side in world football.

Our landlord believes that if United do not clinch a spot in the top four and appoint an exciting successor to Van Gaal, then Mata’s exit is inevitable.

United fans, how crucial is Mata to your club? Would you sell him? Let us know in the comments below!
