Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have once again found themselves looking towards the future, after another disappointing season, and they’re excited by links to one particular special talent.
The Daily Star cites reports to indicate Manchester United have submitted an offer to land Brazilian wonder-kid Gabriel Jesus, who’s being touted as the next big thing in South American football after a certain Neymar.
18-year-old Gabriel Jesus has attracted a wealth of interest from Europe’s top sides and United, along with Atletico Madrid, are one of a few clubs who can sign the Palmeiras forward for less than his £23.5m release-clause.
However, a transfer could be difficult to negotiate due to the fact Palmeiras own just 30% of the players rights, with the rest split between other economic interests. In European football that’s not allowed but in South America it’s very common.
Our landlord feels this star will come to Europe soon but believes he’ll do what many have done before him and move to Spain or Italy first of all, stating it’s easier to settle on the continent than in the Premier League.
