Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are gathering in their Christmas jumpers, drinking mulled wine and praying that their side turns a new leaf in January.
They were less than impressed in midweek when Wolfsburg knocked them out of the Champions League, which led to many glasses being smashed across the bar, and they sincerely hope Louis Van Gaal can steady the ship.
Morale has been lifted by exciting reports, as The Daily Star state that Manchester United are ready to spend £50m on Everton’s John Stones next summer– which would become a world-record fee for a defender.
Premier League rivals Chelsea are also extremely keen on the 21-year-old but United bosses are confident that they have the edge over the Blues.
United are more likely to secure a Champions League finish come the end of the season, whilst they’re a more financially stable side than Chelsea despite Roman Abramovich’s vast wealth.
