Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are on high spirits following Sunday’s victory over Chelsea, which has set things up nicely for Thursday’s Europa League showdown with Anderlect.
Whilst the Red Devils remain in the hunt for a top-four spot in the Premier League, many in the bar believe that success on the continent is the best route for Jose Mourinho’s side into next season’s Champions League.
Whatever Manchester United achieve between now and the end of the season, it’s clear Jose Mourinho will splash the cash once again to bolster his ranks at Old Trafford- and there’s suggestions a high-profile departure could be made to secure the services of one target.
Turkish outlet Fanatik report the Red Devils are extremely interested in Benfica’s Anderson Talisca, who has excelled on-loan with Besiktas.
Mourinho’s side can secure the services of the youngster for just £21m this summer, matching his release-clause, but his arrival in Manchester could open the door for Mata to move to Turkey as Talisca’s replacement.
Mata is rapidly approaching the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and faces an uncertain future, as h faces immense competition for starting opportunities with the Red Devils- and further additions this summer may limit his openings even more.
Our landlord believes a move to Turkey wouldn’t be good for Spanish international Mata though and he expects the 28-year-old will instead return to La Liga.
Should Mata be allowed to leave Manchester United this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
