Manchester United supporters here in the Transfer Tavern are ecstatic at the news filtering in from Gazzetta dello Sport – as the publication reports Lazio President Claudio Lotito pretty much confirming that United are to seal a deal for playmaker Felipe Anderson in the summer for €60m.
This news has got all the Red Devils in a jubilant mood, after what has been a pretty miserable few weeks for their fans.
Speaking to the press, Lotito said: “I bought Felipe Anderson for ¬8m [from Santos] and I’ve sold him on for ¬60m,” Lotito reportedly said. “Next season, he’s going to Manchester United.”
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern feels that €60 million (£47 million) is an extortionate sum of money for the 22-year-old, but says he could turn out to be a star at Old Trafford.
The player is a Brazil international and has really stood out for Serie A side Lazio this season, and it seems that he will be the first signing of Manchester United’s summer transfer window.
The Red Devils face Shrewsbury Town in the Emirates FA Cup tonight, and only a win will do for under pressure Louis van Gaal, otherwise, it looks like the Dutchman will finally get the boot!
