Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern came into the bar wanting an update on a rumoured signing, only to be informed as they got their round in that the Red Devils have turned their attention elsewhere.
The Daily Star states United have been informed bluntly by Atletico Madrid that their is no chance of signing Saul Niguez in January and, instead, United have quickly turned their attention to Valencia’s Andre Gomes- with the clubs officials still in Spain.
United want midfield additions to bolster their ranks for the second-half of the season and increase their chances of climbing the Premier League standings, and sealing a Champions League spot, but Saul is off the agenda as Diego Simeone believes his side have a strong chance of winning back the La Liga crown.
Valencia, on the other hand, are more likely to accept a departure for Andre Gomes as Gary Neville’s side struggle to find form- with the Manchester United legend yet to win a league match in charge of the Spanish giants.
Jorge Mendes is said to to engineering a move that would bring Gomes to United, alongside manager Jose Mourinho, in a double-swoop that’s got United fans wet under the collar as excitement levels rise.
Our landlord believes this would be a significant deal for the Red Devils, who he states need wholesale changes this month.
