Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern believe they need all the help they can get in the coming years, as they look to see their club rise to the pinnacle of European football once again, so these comments from an experienced defender are concerning.
The Manchester Evening News quotes Argentine left-back Marcos Rojo has stating he plans to return to South America, to rejoin boyhood club Estudiantes, when his contract at Old Trafford expires in 2019.
Rojo, a World Cup finalist, has endured a turbulent couple of years at United and his future is in doubt amidst a wealth of competition for his full-back spot, with Luke Shaw set to return from injury in the coming months and academy graduate Cameron Borthwick-Jackson also impressing since making his debut in November.
Still though, despite speculation of a potential sale in the mid-season window, Rojo seems committed to the Red Devils for three more years.
“I miss the club, my family and my friends. I want to return to Estudiantes once I finish my contract in England.”
With Shaw and Borthwick-Jackson, along with Daley Blind and young Joe Riley, capable of slotting in at left-back, it’s debatable as to whether Rojo would genuinely be missed.
