The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are pretty split on their views of this divisive Man Utd man…
Very few players in the Man Utd first team this season have generated as much conversation as Chris Smalling.
A breakout star at Old Trafford in the last year or so, the Englishman looked impressive last season – but a few mixed performances this season mean that he has begun to draw the ire of the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern.
A great player, undoubtedly, but Smalling’s inconsistent form has often led to question marks over his long-term Man Utd future – but now his future could be beginning to look particularly bleak.
According to the Express, with Man Utd closing in on a deal for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof – Chris Smalling could be set for a Man Utd exit.
As the man himself often does, the news has divided the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom can’t work out if the Englishman is outstanding or outstandingly average.
At 27-years-old, Chris Smalling is no longer the youngster that he is often touted as – but there is no doubting that he has improved in recent years. He has made 8 Premier League appearances this season, and so he is clearly important for Mourinho – but our landlord isn’t so sure that he will be at Old Trafford for much longer.
