It has been a fine start to the season for the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern. After such a poor domestic campaign last term, the Red Devils in the pub were desperate for their team to impress this season, and they’ve done a pretty stellar job so far. Whilst Man City are leading the pack, the Red Devils aren’t too far behind. However, they did suffer a pretty big setback over the weekend in the form of a 2-1 loss to Huddersfield.
In truth, it was a pretty poor performance from the Manchester-based outfit, with the Terriers proving good value for their win. Though the loss won’t take Man Utd out of the title race, it is undoubtedly a setback.
Having slept on the game over the last couple of days, Juan Mata has today discussed the result over on his blog, and in typical fashion, he has delivered a very frank assessment on the matter.
Mata wrote: “We were on a very positive run of results, but this weekend we didn’t play a good game and we came back home with no points”.
He added: “Now it’s time to learn from mistakes and keep going, as we always do, showing that the team sticks together when things don’t go so well, which is when we need it most”.
It’s certainly the right message from Mata, with staying united the most important thing that they can do at the moment. The last thing that Mourinho will want them to do is to fall out and give up, particularly given how well the season has gone in general.
Man Utd will learn from this, and they’ll grow stronger as their fixtures continue to ramp up.
In the grand scheme of things, Man Utd had done well to avoid a defeat so far this season, and so they can’t be too disappointed.
It’s important, though, that they win their next game in the Premier League against Tottenham as they look to find their form once again.
