Man Utd and Man City set to fight for world superstar’s signature

NeymarFans from across the Manchester divide have had to be separated once again in the Transfer Tavern, after it all got a bit heated following the latest news concerning the hunt for a global superstar.

The Sun claims Manchester United and Manchester City will go head-to-head for the signature of Barcelona superstar Neymar, who continues to be linked with an exit from Catalonia.

With the Spanish sides embroiled in a financial crisis, which means they’re unlikely to be able to afford to keep Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, two of the Premier League’s big guns are ready to swoop and take advantage of the situation.

Both sides will likely have to pay a world-record fee to land the Brazilian, who has emerged as number one target for both Manchester clubs.

Pep Guardiola, set to take charge of City next season, wants Neymar to be his first signing, whilst United want to make Neymar the face of their worldwide brand- which would appeal to the Brazilian international.

Crucially though, United don’t look likely to land a place in the Champions League next season and that will prove to be decisive in their hunt for the 23-year-old Ballon D’Or finalist.

Our landlord still believes there’s a lot of work to do on the transfer and he still feels that this is all just paper talk from Neymar’s camp to convince Barcelona to hand him a more lucrative contract.
