The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for a new forward to move to Old Trafford this summer…
Zlatan Ibrahimovic exceeded all expectations last season, with a stellar debut campaign in the Premier League, but a recent long-term injury combined with his impending contract expiry has seemingly closed the door on another year at Old Trafford. Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, has struggled for form under Mourinho, meaning that at present, Marcus Rashford is Man Utd’s only real option going forward.
Rashford, of course, is a top player and will do well for Man Utd next year, but with the impending return of the Champions League, it is clear that the Red Devils need a bit more depth in the role.
There was an audible cheer in the Transfer Tavern, then, when Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solhekol revealed on Twitter that the club are reportedly ‘confident’ about signing Alvaro Morata this summer, with talks said to be ongoing.

If Man Utd are looking for a top forward, they would struggle to do better than Morata. Though the Spaniard has struggled for game time over the last year, there is no doubting his quality. Technical, quick and extremely lethal, Morata has been a frequent scorer in La Liga despite his limited game time. He bagged 15 goals despite starting just 14 times last season, highlighting his efficiency – able to do a job both from the start and from the bench.
