Man Utd are reportedly keen on 24-year-old defender, could make move this summer

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are keen for Jose Mourinho to work his magic on the Man Utd defence…

Though the Man Utd backline was resolute at points last season, mistakes were far too common, and without David De Gea, the Red Devils could have really struggled to control some of the Premier League’s more potent offences.

This is particularly surprising given that Jose Mourinho is typically a manager that demands defensive stability, though that perhaps can be explained by the fact that the majority of his defence was inherited, with the Portuguese likely to invest heavily at the back this summer.

That investment could be coming sooner rather than later, too, according to Sky Sports, who are reporting that Mourinho could look to move for a player that he has relied on before – Raphael Varane.

Currently playing for Real Madrid,¬†Mourinho facilitated the Frenchman’s rise at Los Blancos earlier in his career, and he was a reliable hand for the Portuguese during his tenure in Spain.

For his part, Varane has impressed since that point, picking up a couple of La Liga winner’s medals and a couple of Champions League trophies, whilst also establishing himself as one of Europe’s most talented defenders in the process.

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are pretty delighted about this, and are desperate to see him partner Eric Bailly at the back.
