The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to sign a few defenders this summer…
Though Jose Mourinho-led sides are often dominant defensively, that has certainly not been the case at Old Trafford, with the Manchester-based outfit often struggling at the back. The likes of Matteo Darmian and Phil Jones have been poor at points, and that is a real issue for Mourinho. Clearly, then, somewhat of a rebuild is needed in that regard this summer – at least according to our landlord.
It seems as though Jose Mourinho agrees, with the Red Devils apparently closing in on their first major defensive deal of the summer, according to Portuguese outlet Record, with Victor Lindelof seemingly set for a move to Old Trafford. It is noted that a deal is close to being completed for the defender, with Mourinho’s summer plans seemingly beginning to come together.
Lindelof, who currently plays for Benfica, is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most impressive young defenders – having been a standout star for the Portuguese outfit as of late. An excellent passer of the ball, Lindelof will add some much needed technical ability alongside the impressive brutishness of Eric Bailly.
Lindelof is likely to be one of many signings at Old Trafford this summer, with Jose Mourinho needing to improve much of his side. A new forward, potentially in the shape of Romelu Lukaku, according to the Times, will likely come in, whilst Mourinho is sure to have other plans up his sleeve, too.
