Man Utd could issue ultimatum as Mourinho looks to land £21.25m-rated midfielder

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Eric Dier to move to Old Trafford this summer…

For all the flair and excitement within the Man Utd first team, there is a genuine fear amongst supporters that their side may be a little top heavy this summer. Players like Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are all excellent going forward, but they all offer very little at the back – and that is certainly worrying.

Michael Carrick has long been the player tasked with balancing out the Man Utd first team, but given his age, a regular starting berth is not ideal – and so for many, Eric Dier could be the perfect option.

At points last season he was forced out of the Tottenham midfield in favour of Victor Wanyama, but that is not likely to be something that he wants to continue next season, and Jose Mourinho could almost certainly offer him a return to that position.

Tottenham, though, are unlikely to be willing to sell to a Premier League rival, however the Mirror are reporting that Man Utd could look to act on that. According to the Mirror, Man Utd are considering issuing a £60 million take it or leave it offer for Dier as Jose Mourinho grows tired at a lack of progress in the deal.

Whilst any move still looks unlikely, Man Utd are clearly keen on securing a deal, and Tottenham would likely be able to reinvest the £60 million funds elsewhere should they choose to take the money.

Daniel Levy, though, is a very harsh negotiator, and so a deal looks unlikely according to our landlord. Rated at £21.25m by Transfer Markt, a £60 million move would be paying well over the odds, though, and so the Man Utd fans in the pub are optimistic.
