Man Utd could make shock decision to land £63m-rated midfielder

In the Transfer Tavern, the Man Utd fans leaning by the bar don’t know what to make of this proposed deal…

Anthony Martial has impressed since he arrived in Manchester from Monaco, but questions still remain over whether he is going to reach the level that was expected following his big-money move to the Premier League.

He has found his game time limited in recent weeks, and a few of the more cynical Man Utd fans in the Tavern think that Jose Mourinho simply doesn’t rate him.

Seemingly, it would appear that their doubts have been reinforced – with a surprise report emerging as per the Sun that suggests that Martial could leave the club.

As per the Sun, Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the Manchester United star – and with Mourinho reportedly keen on James Rodriguez; they are suggesting that a swap deal could be on the cards.

Interestingly, the Sun also note that if Martial’s form does not improve, Mourinho could look to sell – which makes this deal a genuine possibility.

This has surprised the Man Utd fans in the Tavern, many of whom have touted Martial as a future Man Utd Star –  especially considering his impressive debut season in Manchester. Admittedly, he has looked poor this season – but they simply don’t believe that he has lost his talent.

Our landlord isn’t so sure on this deal. Rodriguez and Martial are very different players – and a direct swap deal could leave Mourinho short on the flanks. What’s more, he thinks that if Rodriguez isn’t good enough for Madrid – then he surely isn’t good enough for Man Utd.

Rodriguez has looked decent this season when given an opportunity, though, having scored 1 goal and made 2 assists in just 3 La Liga starts. Martial, meanwhile, has scored 1 goal and made 3 assists in 6 Premier League starts.
