Man Utd could reportedly be in pole position to secure striker deal – but there’s a problem for Mourinho

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their club to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic well this summer, but a deal for Alvaro Morata may be difficult to come by…

According to Don Balon, Real Madrid would like to sell Alvaro Morata to Man Utd this summer – but the issue for the Red Devils is that they could use the deal as leverage to get David De Gea to go the other way. What’s more, Morata would apparently prefer a move to Chelsea – potentially making a Man Utd transfer tough to come by.

Don Balon are certainly presenting a lot of information, and it is tough to take in, but essentially for Man Utd – a deal could come to pass, provided that David De Gea is made available for a transfer the other way. Morata could, perhaps, be convinced to change his mind – but that is just another hurdle for Mourinho to overcome.

This has certainly divided opinion amongst the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many doubting whether De Gea is worth trading for Morata. Of course, Morata is a top player, and he has been prolific in La Liga this year, but De Gea is arguably one of Europe’s best goalkeepers.

That being said, a new striker is going to be an essential signing this summer, and Morata would plug a pretty significant hole for the Red Devils – having scored 15 league goals this year.

Jose Mourinho has a big decision on his hands…
