The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted when their side announced that they had agreed terms with Benfica over a deal for Victor Lindelof, but most fans still want to see a bit more depth at the back…
It seems that Jose Mourinho does, too, with the Sun reporting that the Portuguese manager would still like to add Michael Keane to his ranks this summer. However, a deal for the Englishman looks unlikely, with the Sun also reporting that Keane is hesitant to move back to Old Trafford – especially with a World Cup on the horizon.
Indeed, it appears as though Keane’s main fear is a lack of game time, and that is a very worthy fear. Given that Lindelof looks set to join, Keane would have to compete with the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo for a starting berth – and his chances don’t look too good against that group.
That being said, Keane has been in fine form over the last year or two. Emerging as one of Burnley’s best players, the Englishman is clearly a top talent – and our landlord thinks that a big money move could well be on the cards this summer.
For Man Utd, though, perhaps their focus should be elsewhere – with the Man Utd fans in the pub demanding a new forward this summer.
