Man Utd ‘expected’ to agree deal with striker this year – report

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern thought that the arrival of Romelu Lukaku would spell the end of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s time in Manchester…

The Swedish forward’s current deal expired earlier this summer, and given his age, it was widely expected amongst supporters in the Transfer Tavern that both he and the club would be keen to move on.

However, according to the Sun, that is not the case. The Sun are reporting that Ibrahimovic is now ‘expected’ to sign on for a further year when he returns from injury. It is said that the Man Utd medical team have been impressed with his recovery, and whilst he was expected to be out until beyond the end of the year, he now looks set to return sooner.

Despite the capture of Romelu Lukaku, there is no doubting that this would come as a huge boost for Man Utd. Ibrahimovic was their best player last season, and a short-term deal would offer very little risk for the Red Devils.

That being said, this news might not make Romelu Lukaku too happy. Sure, he would get a chance to play alongside one of Europe’s best – but he has gone to Man Utd to play every week, and the return of Ibrahimovic would potentially put a kink in those expectations.

That being said, whilst this is just hearsay at present, the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see Zlatan return.
