Man Utd eye move for talented forward; Liverpool are also long-term admirers

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are still reeling after picking up an impressive win over Premier League champions Leicester City at the weekend…

It has been a pretty mixed few weeks for the Red Devils, with Jose Mourinho’s side often struggling to pick up 3 points regularly – but a fantastic performance against Leicester City seems to suggest that the good times are returning to Old Trafford.

Seemingly insistent on ensuring that success returns to Man Utd in the long-term, Jose Mourinho has focused heavily upon the recruitment of young players since he arrived, with Paul Pogba the most notable acquisition – and it would appear as though he is keen on securing yet another young star.

Though not quite on the level of Paul Pogba, Ben Brereton has been impressing the fans in the Transfer Tavern with his performances as of late – and Man Utd are reportedly keen on securing his services going forward.

Any deal will not be easy to get done, though, with the Sun reporting that Liverpool have been tracking him for 6 months – and Jurgen Klopp is seemingly keen on bringing him to Merseyside.

The rivalry between Liverpool and Man Utd is one of the most historic in England, and it would appear as though the pair are set to do battle off the pitch in pursuit of Brereton.

A natural centre-forward, Man Utd’s move for Brereton makes a lot of sense given that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Man Utd’s current first choice forward, is 35-years-old and nearing the end of his career. At 17-years-old, Ben Brereton is certainly a target for the future.

Having already scored his first first-team goal for current side Nottingham Forest, the only way for Brereton is up.
