Man Utd eye move for trophy-laden defender; West Ham also keen

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see him return to Old Trafford…

Whenever the transfer window re-opens, there are always a few stories that surprise the punters in the Transfer Tavern – and it would appear as though this month’s shocker comes from Italy – where ex-Man Utd man Patrice Evra is currently playing.

Signed to Turin giants Juventus, Evra hasn’t had much of a look in so far this season – and that has left a few of the European football fans in the Tavern suggesting that he could look to leave the club; and it would appear that that scenario is beginning to look more and more likely.

According to Calcio Mercato, Evra will be allowed to leave Juventus this month if he chooses to – but perhaps more shockingly – ex-club Man Utd are reportedly keen on signing him.

Calcio Mercato are reporting that Evra has held talks with both Man Utd and West Ham over a possible move – and whilst no deal has been agreed yet, they note that Mourinho, in particular, is keen on the Frenchman – with a decision over his future set to be made next week.

Whilst certainly a shocker, this report has delighted the Man Utd fans parked up by the bar in the Transfer Tavern. A club icon and legendary figure at Old Trafford, Evra achieved so much with the Red Devils – and many in the Tavern feel that a player of his experience could revolutionise the dressing room at Old Trafford.

The West Ham fans in attendance are also pretty keen, and whilst they haven’t seen much of Evra lately – they think a few big-name signings could be just what Bilic needs to turn their season around.

For their reference, here’s a look at how well the Frenchman has been doing whilst he has been away from the Premier League.

Our landlord certainly thinks that he’s still got it…
