Manchester United fans are relieved in the Transfer Tavern this evening as they hear that their search for a new manager has finally reached it’s conclusion.
After months of rumours and reports, The Daily Express cites what could be the final breakthrough from the media as they state a deal has been agreed with Jose Mourinho to see the Portuguese boss take charge from the summer.
Mourinho has been the overwhelming favourite to take over at Old Trafford ever since question marks about Louis Van Gaal’s reign first emerged in December, shortly after Mourinho himself was sacked at Chelsea, and the appointment now seems on the verge of being made official.
Reports state Mourinho has agreed a three-year deal worth £15.25m-a-year, whilst adding the only reason Van Gaal has not yet been sacked is due to the hefty pay-off package he’s entitled too- although that will be lower should, as expected, the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Our landlord isn’t sure Mourinho is the right candidate for United but feels the Red Devils had no choice but to appoint a huge manager after Pep Guardiola’s arrival across the city.
