Man Utd handed major transfer blow in pursuit of attacker

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to add a bit of attacking depth this summer…

However, it doesn’t appear likely that Ivan Perisic will be the player to provide it, with the Telegraph reporting that Man Utd’s move for the player has hit the buffers. With the Red Devils looking to take advantage of Inter Milan’s financial situation, Mourinho is said to be looking to bag a cheap deal – but it is noted that Inter have grown frustrated at their efforts, and the deal could be hanging by a thread as a result.

Should the Italian side decide not to sell to Man Utd, that could prove disastrous for the Red Devils. They have been linked with a move for several weeks now, and so it looks as though Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward have put much of their focus on securing a deal for him.

Of course, he would bring a lot to the Man Utd first team. An exciting, hard-working attacking midfielder, he has a remarkable record for Inter Milan, having bagged 11 goals last season.

With Man Utd returning to the Champions League next season, extra depth will be important, and Perisic would certainly serve to that end.

Unfortunately, though, this deal is beginning to look increasingly unlikely – and so perhaps it is time for Mourinho to look elsewhere.
