The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting the focus of transfers this month to be on incoming players, rather than outgoing players…
After a pretty good few weeks in the Premier League, the need to bring players in has, seemingly, reduced – and it would appear as though the focus will remain on thinning out the dead weight in the Man Utd first team.
However, one player that, seemingly, will not be leaving the club is Sergio Romero – with the Independent reporting that the goalkeeper has rejected a move to Boca Juniors in favour of remaining at Old Trafford.
Interestingly, the Independent do note that a summer move is possible – with a host of clubs likely to be vying for his signature.
Whilst Romero has rarely played this season, his role is an important one – with the Argentine the only genuine option available for Mourinho should David De Gea go down with an injury. He has made just 5 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season, but it would appear as though he is more than content to continue as a bit-part player for at least the rest of the season.
Our landlord thinks that he might be one of the Premier League’s best reserve goalkeepers…
