Man Utd man reportedly keen to leave the club this summer

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern had very high hopes for Cameron Borthwick-Jackson a few years ago…

Having emerged as a young talent under Louis van Gaal, he had been touted as many in the Transfer Tavern as the future of Man Utd’s left-hand side, but since that point, his career has gone downhill.

A poor loan spell at Wolves last season did him no favours, and with Luke Shaw in the fold under Mourinho, his future at Old Trafford is looking bleak.

It has come as no surprise to the fans in the Transfer Tavern, then, to learn of reports from the Daily Mail suggesting that the left-back is looking to leave the club this summer, with interest from Ajax – among other sides – said to be on the table.

A move away from Man Utd would undoubtedly be described as a disappointment given that for a spell, he looked like a very talented player. He made 6 Premier League starts during the 2015/16 season, but has yet to make an appearance for Man Utd since – leaving little hope of a first team return.

Still, a move to Ajax would certainly not be a real step down, given that the Dutch giants are famed for the focus that they place on youth development. Indeed, the defender could move to the Netherlands and become a better player because of it – and so our landlord isn’t entirely against this deal.

For Man Utd, though, given their lack of depth at the back, his departure could well force Mourinho back into the market for a replacement.
