The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have already got one eye on the summer transfer window…
After a poor start to the season, Man Utd’s chances of regaining their Premier League crown are looking increasingly unlikely – and despite a recent turnaround in form, the best Jose Mourinho can hope for this season is to scrape a top four finish.
With the current window proving to be a quiet one for the Red Devils, it would appear as though Mourinho will be going all out in the summer – but it isn’t going to be plain sailing for the Man Utd boss.
It doesn’t look like it will only be incoming players that Mourinho will have to deal with, with the Sun reporting that Man Utd goalkeeper Sergio Romero wants to have showdown talks with his club ahead of potential Man Utd departure in the summer.
According to the Sun, Romero is happy at Man Utd for now – but the long-term prospect of first team football is turning the head of the Argentine, and he could look to leave the club in the summer as a result.
This report has come as no surprise to the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, especially given the lack of action that Romero has had this season. He has made just 3 appearances this season, none of which have come in the Premier League, and for a player of his quality – that just isn’t good enough.
The Argentine is unfortunate in that the player ahead of him is one of Europe’s best in David De Gea, who has continued to impress this season.
Romero is a great keeper in his own right, though, and a move to a big club is inevitable – especially if he can recapture this form…
