The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for Jose Mourinho’s spending to continue. The Portuguese manager has spent freely since moving to Old Trafford, with big names like Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba coming in for big money in recent years. The signings have made a massive impact, too, with the Red Devils finally creeping back to the top of the table.
It certainly doesn’t look like Man Utd’s spending is going to finish anytime soon, though, at least according to the Sun. The Sun reports that Man Utd are already looking towards their next signing, and it’s a deal that they are said to want to be wrapped up quickly. Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler is the man in question, with talks reportedly already underway as the Red Devils look to tie up his signing.
Man Utd’s lack of depth in the middle of the park has been highlighted this season, with the Red Devils lacking in the position following the injuries to both Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba. They have, of course, been unlucky in that regard, but with so many competitions on the go this season, they’ve got to plan for more than one or two unavailabilities.
With regards to Soler, he would certainly be a decent option for the job. He has made 9 appearances in La Liga so far this term, bagging 4 assists and 1 goal in the process. An excellent passer and fantastic at breaking up play and holding onto the ball, he has been described as the perfect midfielder by our resident La Liga expert, and it’s tough to argue.
Whether a deal can be found remains to be seen, but Man Utd are clearly keen.
Man Utd could certainly do with depth in the role, and they have the money, so it could simply go down to his current club, Valencia, and the player’s wishes as to whether this deal will go through.
Mourinho is clearly keen to conduct his business quickly, and that’s a fantastic way to work.
