Man Utd plot move for impressive £35m-rated French star

The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern aren’t sure about this one…

Man Utd have struggled so far this season, and it would appear that Jose Mourinho is willing to spend big – again – in order get the best out of his disappointing side.

According to the Mirror, Man Utd are plotting a move for West Ham star Dimitri Payet – in a move that would reportedly require £35 million in order to get it done.

Interestingly, whilst West Ham would, of course, be hesitant to make a deal, the Mirror also add that any transfer would have to wait until the summer at the very earliest – by which point the Frenchman would be 30-years-old.

It is, of course, no surprise that Man Utd are looking for attacking depth – with the likes of Ibrahimovic, Rooney and Lingard doing very little to cement their places in the first team.

On first glance, the deal makes a lot of sense. Payet was undoubtedly the star of the show last season, and impressed everyone in the Football Transfer Tavern. However, on the other side of the coin, the Frenchman is approaching 30 – and the longevity of this deal simply isn’t there.

The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern simply think that Mourinho could far better spend his money elsewhere – and Payet is not the answer.

Nonetheless, Payet has impressed this season, having scored 3 goals and made 2 assists for the Hammers thus far.
